In early 2023 the United Nations voted to adopt the High Seas Treaty and protect 30% of the Ocean by 2030.
It was an historic moment and a rare example of global unity and decisive action in the fight against the climate emergency.
We were very proud to have played our small role in that success.
But the agreement would count for nothing if the individual nations did not sign it and ratify it into law.
Our challenge was to create a campaign for the High Seas Alliance that would help persuade world leaders to sign and ratify the High Seas Treaty urgently.
It was launched at the UN and played a central role in persuading 100 world leaders to commit to signing in the first 2 days.
